History

The game comes from a simplification of the English game called “hazard”, which was so popular in the 17th and 18th centuries that people started betting on the game. By the 19 century the game was simplified by French influences and touched the states first in the state of Louisiana and from there expanded to the rest of the country through the riverboats. The game owes most of its popularity to the African American Community.

The first moderan development of the game came from the dice maker John H. Winn allowing the player to bet with the shooter or against him, this eliminated the use of playing with crooked dices, later he invented the craps table and with that the Casino version of the game called Bank Craps.
